A Suggestion

Submitted by Kevin Malcolm on March 17, 2010 – 7:46 amView Comments

While discussing the clearly non-mint Silver Age comics I picked up this weekend with some friends, my friend David suggested a new naming system for comics that are in lower tier grade of comics (good, fair, poor ). He reasoned (and rightly so) that the comics now in my possession that had tears, pages falling out, pencil marks etc would be considered to be in mint condition on Bizarro world.  So with that idea I am suggesting that the new comic grading system go like this.  The first four grades will remain the same-

-Mint

-Near Mint

-Very Fine

-Fine

But then after that we switch to bizarro grading with

-Bizarro Fine

-Bizarro Very Fine

-Bizarro Near Mint

-Bizarro Mint

That way, even if I pick up a comic that is missing a back cover and has moustaches drawn on Lois Lane’s face I don’t have to feel bad about the quality of the comic because its still in mint condition, its just Bizarro Mint condition.
