Does meticulously plotted mean “good”?

Submitted by Jonas Bailey on April 28, 2010 – 1:56 pmView Comments

I say…likely not. I bring this up because the trend *I* see is for larger and larger more multi-part mutli-series X-overs, which are then led in their own special line of comics (which I’d thought was so the rest of us could avoid having to buy them or having to buy a lot of other comics we don’t enjoy, but really it doesn’t seem to work that way) which relate in deeper an deeper ways to universal canon. But…here’s the thing, it’s fuckin’ comics so…that shit is all totes made up, ya know?

Thus making me think “tightly scripted” is really code for “Bendis jerk-off fantasy”. I mean..have you seen the level of obsessive detail folks put in to weird slashporn on the internet? Either they are great writers too….or Bendis is a masturbation fanatic. I know which way I’m leaning on that one.

Did…did I do this rite?

Yes. Yes I have. That shit is crazy detailed, but since all fanfic writers are also fanfic readers, they all reference the exact same points. Like find me a Jason Todd story that doesn't mention he likes Neopolitan ice cream.

It's not just comics either. And in general, no it doesn't at all mean 'good'. Often it just means clusterfu*k. Gotta find that middle ground. Complex enough to be continually engaging, simple enough that it isn't work.

    That'll do, Jonas.
