It’s Friday the 13th, so what’s your favorite scary/horror comic?***

Submitted by Kevin Malcolm on August 13, 2010 – 9:34 amView Comments

Quick Post-

Other than the uber-creepy scene in the Diner with Dr Destiny in Sandman #6 that I’ve mentioned before there are a few other comics that give me the chills.

-Walking Dead (duh) because from time to time I’ve honestly hesitated turning a page on this book for fear of what Kirkman was about to do to one of the characters.

-The entire Ostrander/Mandrake run of The Spectre always had a very creepy undercurrent because you never knew when the Spectre was going to flip out and kill someone by turning them into a bicycle and then riding them in the Tour de France (okay that didn’t happen in the series but if Tom Mandrake drew that, it would be AWESOME).

-And obviously any comic reader *has* to check out the vast line of horror books that EC put out.  I mean those things caused congressional hearings so you KNOW they’re good.

***Note: Anything put out by Avatar press, specifically Crossed, is not eligible because that shit is just plain terrible.

The only comics that have ever given me the wiggins have been Sandman stuff. I'm thinking specifically about the boarding school parts of Seasons of Mists. Oh, the nightmares.

The ending to THE UNWRITTEN #12 — the Winnie the Pooh issue — was really, really creepy.

Mike I've only read vol 1 of the trade so far. I need to get caught up!

I love THE WALKING DEAD to bits. Also, I just started reading Alan Moore's SAGA OF THE SWAMP THING collections. Man, I love that weird, beardy guy. He friggin' rocks.
