New comics for 2/24/2010 (now with 100% more new comic smell)!!

Submitted by Pete Greenberg on February 24, 2010 – 11:42 pmView Comments

New comics excitedly purchased this week were…

*Batman & Robin #9 (DC) – The cover depicts Batman about to chuck Robin off a building. Yup, that works for me. Thank you Grant Morrison.

*Captain Swing & The Electrical Pirates of Cindery Island (Avatar) – Ooooh Warren Ellis what have you gotten me into now? Some sort of steam punk pirate shenanigans? Well when you put it that way, how can I refuse?

*We Will Bury You (IDW) - Templesmith cover but not Templesmith innards. Have taken a quick skim of it already. Not entirely sure what the scoop is but does seem a little  darkly comical and oh and a little violent too. Sold.

*Choker #1 (Image) – Templesmith cover AND Templesmith innards! You know how I’ve been yapping for weeks that it hasn’t come out yet? Well, now I can shut up (about that anyway) because it has. Looks moody and tense and a little rough. Go get it now.

What did yooooooooooou get?

I remember reading about this on his blog over the summer, but had forgotten it was coming out soon. In his own words -

“Not steampunk. An Electrical Romance of a Pirate Utopia Thwarted.”

for those unlike Pete & myself, who will buy a weird Ellis project immediately upon release, here's a link to a 10pg preview

I've been ragging on B&R, but this issue was pretty good. And was it just me or was zombie Darkseid Batman both hilarious and a little heartbreaking at the same time?
