The insinuation is definitely there, but I have seen no indication that that is a direction in which anyone wants to take the character except Scott McDaniel and Chuck Dixon…who are both pretty religiously vocal. It's like, if I drew Nightwing, you can be damn sure that I would put some gay muscle porn on his shelves. If there were any real editorial drive to make him religious, we would have had a story about it.

I think Scott McDaniel's art is super ugly. I don't know that I have ever liked it. I think that his issues of Robin were by far his worst work, though. Or maybe…did he draw some Countdown Arena? You are right, though, his early NIghtwing stuff was actually not half bad. Maybe exactly half bad, actually.

Yeah, I guess its not too overt but insinuation is there.
To keep pinballing around. What do you think of McDaniel's art? I liked it on Nightwing but since then it seems either he's gotten too sloppy or he's not been paired with the right inker because it looks nowhere as good as it did on early Nightwing.

As far as I know, Scott McDaniel slipped some background stuff into Nightwing's room. You see that junk in his room like once and Dick never, ever, on panel, does anything remotely religious.

I'm not reading Power Girl but I've heard good things. And then I read today that Judd Winick is going to start writing it soon. Guess I'm not going to start picking it up now.

Agreed on characters that appear on a cover but not in the book. I guess what I'm talking about is the charming balls out insanity on Silver Age covers that usually only tangentially had something to do with a panel or two inside but the stories inside kicked ass anyways.

How do you feel about Dick being a fan of DC Talk and other 'pop' christian stuff back when Nightwing was first out. Not to get into a whole religion argument but I always thought it was odd that a guy who hung out with Dr Fate & the Spectre would be a fan of such a specific form of a religion.

Yeah, it's funny because it's true. I'm surprised it's not mentioned in the books because you know Dick is a big fan of bohunk cologne. That's just science.

My biggest pet peeve is when a cover has nothing at all to do with the conent of the issue. For instance, when Batman is on the cover, BUT NOT IN THE COMIC. What. The. Fuck. Like, I don't care that the cover has an idealized, artistic version of something that happens in the book...but I want it to have SOME relation to the content, even if it's just metaphorical.

Ugh, Stroman. women with man-faces and mitts for hands.

Ahe, first of all the thought that Dick Grayson smells like Polo cracked me up and makes total sense.

On covers? I am SO glad we're getting away from the iconic/static images of the heroes that tell you NOTHING about what is going on in the book. In fact I'd much rather have covers with word balloons that tell me whats gonna happen in the book that is totally different from what we actually get ala most Silver Age books.

And re: "It’s amazing how bad art makes it tough to appreciate an otherwise good issue." Case in point with this is Peter David's X-Factor. There were 4 months or more of that book that I could NOT read because Larry Stroman was doing the art. And this is one of my favorite series, one that is at the top of my read pile.
