White Lantern Batman is almost upon us

Submitted by Jason Doctor on August 16, 2010 – 10:11 pmView Comments

I didn’t think I could dislike Geoff Johns & DC anymore than I already do. Their insistence on inflicting publisher-wide “events” on almost every title*, with everyone given the full understanding that any changes that take place might last, at most, two years before some other event shakes things up again. I refuse to buy anymore comic book snow globes. So far, though, the latest creative rollercoaster had yet to have any direct effect on Batman… it was only a matter of time.

And, thus, White Lantern Batman

Don’t get me wrong – the cover art is beautiful, but that won’t affect my decision. If I have to not buy any titles of my favorite character for a few months (until, inevitably, he goes back to being regular Batman), then that’s what I’ll do. I haven’t bought any issues of Green Lantern since the start of “Blackest Night”. Maybe I’ll be the only one, but my wallet stays closed in the hopes that eventually they’ll learn to reserve these storylines for when it’s truly necessary. Right now, it’s just a bad gimmick to gin up sales.

*Marvel’s just as guilty. I’m not buying Daredevil right now for the same reason.

And you won't be buying Daredevil for a while as it was just announced that Daredevil (or at least the current numbering scheme) is being cancelled soon.

Since when can you successfully judge a comic by its cover?

When said cover shows Ku-Klux-Batman? :)
I'm not going to speak for Jason but I just think this whole “everyone gets to have a magic ring at some point” direction of the DCU is getting VERY tired.
