The Lazarus Pit is such a Mary Sue
Newsflash: I was not the only woman in the store this week. That made me very happy until the 19 year old floppy-haired employee approached her to ask if she was shopping for herself or for her boyfriend. Douche! Judging from her testy reaction, you’re not getting any repeat business.
Brace yourselves, True Believers: every comic I bought this week was satisfying! Possibly because I only took home 5 books, but let’s not split hairs.
Batman & Robin #9: I am completely turned around on B&R now. I enjoyed this issue so much that I barely noticed that zombie!DarkseidBatman talks like an lolcat.
X-Factor #202: Peter David writes a mean comic and his Doctor Doom is pitch perfect. As always, X-Factor is consistently fun and fast-paced. And not just because Rictor/Shatterstar is finally the truth I’ve known it to be since X-Force, vol. 1.
Superman #697: I’m going to be so sad when Mon-el has to go back to the Phantom Zone.
Deadpool #20: OKAY FINE. Hit Monkey is kind of awesome and it’s basically genius to have a silent antagonist face off against Spiderman and Deadpool.
Cowboy Ninja Viking #4: I picked up this issue because it had one of those little “Employee Pick of the Week” tags and I was not disappointed in anything other than the fact that there are no actual cowboys, ninjas or vikings in it. This book is like Quentin Tarantino + multiple personality disorder + Oliver Stone-style governmental conspiracy. Also, it’s oversized. Bonus!
